Yamaha HS80 M
The Yamaha HS80M is a two-way, active studio monitor designed to provide affordable, high quality reference monitoring for all types of recording and multimedia applications, home studios, computer-based music production, gaming systems, keyboards rigs and personal computer systems.
The white cone tells the story. The Yamaha HS80M active studio monitor is the current version of the familiar Yamaha NS10 studio monitor . The Yamaha HS80M studio monitor features a 8" cone and 1" dome tweeter in a bi-amped rear ported bass reflex MDF enclosure. Inputs are both balanced XLR and 1/4" phone jacks. In addition to master level controls, each Yamaha HS80M studio monitor has trim switches to adjust the low, mid and high frequency response to the application, to better match the monitors to the room. Spurious vibrations and resonances are eliminated with specially designed mounting rings, and the extra thick tweeter frame further minimizes resonances that can interfere with high-end clarity. The HS80M speakers are magnetically shielded, so can be used near CRT monitors.
The Yamaha HS80M studio moniotr's frequency response can be extended down to 30 Hz with the Yamaha HS10W Powered Subwoofer, though the HS80M bass response seems to go lower than the 42Hz spec.
The Yamaha HS80M studio monitor is sold and packaged individually, making it easy to build flexible monitor setups and 5.1 systems. Best of all, the Yamaha logo lights up when the HS80M speakers are active!
