The Roland SD-50 provides high-quality XLR microphone and instrument inputs along with onboard effects, and the SD-50 Mobile Studio Canvas sound module can play backing tracks from a USB flash memory drive while providing a fully multi-timbral sound engine for a keyboard controller. No matter what kind of music you create, the Roland SD-50 Mobile Studio Canvas sound module has tools that let you do more.

For recording the Roland SD-50 Mobile Studio Canvas is a complete 2-channel USB audio interface. Select from its hi-Z instrument or phantom-powered XLR microphone inputs and record with most Mac or PC based DAWs. If you use a PC, then you can even take advantage of the bundled Cakewalk SONAR 8.5 LE recording software. As a sound module, the Roland SD-50 Mobile Studio Canvas is a 1-in / 1-out MIDI interface for any MIDI equipped controller or keyboard. The Roland SD-50 Mobile Studio Canvas sound module provides 1,125 sounds and features 128-note polyphony. The Roland SD-50 comes with Mobile Studio Solo Tones such as Roland's acclaimed shakuhachi, trombone, and violin. Because the Roland SD-50 Mobile Studio Canvas meets General MIDI 2 GM2 format specifications, any properly formatted MIDI 1 or 0 file loaded via the Roland SD-50 onboard USB port will provide properly orchestrated backing tracks as you play.

The bundled Cakewalk SONAR LE 8.5 is easy-to-use software to edit music or audio for presentation purposes, and the Roland SD-50 Mobile Studio Canvas itself provides powerful and useful functions. While connected to a computer, the Roland SD-50 Mobile Studio Canvas provides high-quality audio output. But the Roland SD-50 Mobile Studio Canvas doesn't require a computer to function. With six AA batteries or the included AC adaptor, the Roland SD-50 Mobile Studio Canvas is able to run in standalone mode. Just plug in a USB flash memory device loaded with your audio, and use its comprehensive onboard controls to play it back.

The bundled Cakewalk SONAR 8.5 LE music recording software supports up to 32 tracks and 24 track effects, 8 physical in / outs at 24bit / 96kHz. SONAR 8.5 LE includes new instruments and effects, and is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
