G&L Tribute L-2000 Standard Black MN
This is a bass from Leo Fenders last workshop with a fantastic price-performance-ratio. After Leo Fender left the company MusicMan, he founded G&L together with George Fullerton in 1980 with the goal to produce the best e-guitars and e-basses worldwide. The company name derives form the initials of both first names. Later when Fullerton was forced to leave, the company was renamed to "Guitars by Leo". After Leo Fenders Death his wife Phyllis Fender signed over the company management to John C. McLaren. Leo had already negotiated with John McLaren and was sure that he would lead the company in his favour. Part of the deal was that George Fullerton should always keep his position in the company as a mentor and Phyllis should remain honorary chairman of the company so that the name Fender would always be in memory of Leo Fender.
Today the production is being continued exactly the way Leo wanted it to be. His workplace, the epicentre of his creativity, was kept the way he had left it on his last day and has become a place of pillgrimage for many people from the music industry worldwide. The employees from G&L are his "family", who build his instruments with a lot of love, passion and skill. To stick to the unique philosophy of Leo Fender John C. McLaren once said: "G&L will always be open for changes. Leo Fander was always a symbol of change and evolution to the advatages of the musicians. But before we change anything, we´ll always ask, "What would Leo have done?", because we always want Leo to be proud of us.
