Les Paul Collection
Around 1941 Les Paul built “The Log” which was his first prototype of a solid body guitar. He used a block of maple wood which he fitted with a bridge, pickups, tail-piece and a normal Gibson neck. He then cut along one of his guitars and glued both halves of the body to the back and front of the block and out came the first solid-body electric guitar.

Special Collection
The Les Paul Junior debuted in 1954. Equipped with merely one pickup, it was offered at an excellent price which was why it gained success quickly. In 1955 the Les Paul Special was launched and was to complete the original quartet of the Les Paul models. While the contemporary pendant has been equipped with 2 Open Coil Humbuckers, the original model featured Soap Bar P-90 Pickups.

The Les Paul Special and Les Paul Junior have a plain design and all the essential features to provide a good sound - basically everything the ambitious beginner needs!

The company has been in business for 125 years. Epaminondas Stathopoulos is the founder and namesake of Epiphone. He had already obtained his first patent when he was only 24 years old. The history of Epiphone has also been shaped greatly by the brilliant guitarist Les Paul who experimented in the Epiphone factory to design the first solid body electric guitar in 1941. Today Epiphone stand for both innovative guitar design and for excellent yet affordable replicas of true guitar classics.
