AKG D7
The AKG D7 is one of few high-quality dynamic reference microphones for vocal- and speech usage. This microphone offers the best sound quality for singers and speakers for live- and studio-usage.
Thanks to the patented AKG Laminat Varimotion Membran-Technology the D7 offers a natural sound for every human voice. The microphone has different membrane coats and forces. The new Laminat Varimotion Cupping Process makes it possible to precede the acoustic fine tuning directly at membrane capsule without mechanical tuning resonators. The result is a quantum leap in sound pleasure! In spite of the very fine grid cap and the noble design, the D7 is a long-life and reliable microphone especially for the requirements of live-musicians.
A humbucking coil directly above the metalised dust protector guarantees insensitivity against EMV interspersion, the new dimensional interior foam keeps wind noise out. The AKG logo on the microphone handle also lifts the value of the product. “We developed the D7 microphone for singers who want something special and exclusive. Due to a new developed and very precise, metalised dust protector on the capsule which enables consistent voice-over our new microphone has a very fine sound which can only be heard with a condense microphone”, explains Thomas Umbauer, product manager by AKG Acoustics.

Innovation for Vocalists
I am a tenor with high belting notes and vibrato Gillian's style mids and upgraded from a SHURE SM58 mic.
D7's sound is clearer, smoother, more powerful.
Talking about mixer setups it cuts off like a knife-edge: using SM58 I had to turn mid and low to 9 o clock and high to about 2/3 o clock to have a nice sound from my (olllddd) sudio PA, with D7 I can leave all sets to 12 o clock and response is incredible. I must underline we use a MACKIE mixer and speakers are custom made from Music Tech cases, 150 W each.
At the end of the first rehearsal with D7 my drummer (who sits shoulders to the speakers) told me: "I never heard you so clearly!".
I used Beta58 in live situations and it's a great mic too but D7's sound quality and sensitivity are on a higher level.
